I originate from Manna di Passa, Jamsher Khas, Jalandhar now 4 generations in UK. After a land dispute that my dad took me back to India did I discover our wealth of Family history.
I asked elders why us Manns in predominantly Sher Gill village on southern side. Apparently a Sher Gill a few centuries ago married a Mann, moved out but the Mann died and she returned to the village and later had a Mann son that all Manns in our decent from that ancestor, it’s widely known by SherGills of the village we are related. I tried to find out which village Mann husband was from but it’s no longer now. I tried to go back via Farm land documents but I only got 5 generations back before official couldn’t be bothered to look further for older documents. Thinking how many Manns in the village I’m guessing it’s a few centuries perhaps even before Gurus. I returned to Uk but then looked up Maans origins and hence found this post and districts & villages named above. Hence it’s likely one of these names on the family most likely to be my common ancestor..
I went back further writing a free ebook for those interested (big file and pictures) of Mann migration into India (3 brothers that started their own clans called Mann, Hayre and angular) Asi Jat and Saka conquest (Indo aryan/Indo Greeks) Scythians, Sintashta, Yamnaya and Altai mountains back to last ice age Denisovan & Neanderthals hominids.
Not sure of time line relative to this but Manns in Mahabharata somewhere in there too.
When you look at Saka tribes & Sycthians in Central Asia before we entered India and common known as Jat 2500 years ago, this area was very large, when it eventually diminished by other migrations. 2 distinct areas West Russia & Afghan /Iran. Hence why Germany today has loads of Jat surnames like Mann like famous MAN Trucks & Buses. If you watch Gladiator movie note Pointed armoured hat and Barbarians, Ger-Manic tribes that originate from Iran AKA Kerman.
Saka/Manns that went into India known as son of Jats (Putta Jatta da) and earlier migrations to Germany and Neatherlands (look up Jutland/Jatland) and Norway , all known as King of Jats. Around this time Alan’s merged and you see many famous tribes that shaped Europe, other Germanic tribes : Goths and their Gotland, Visigoths, Vandals, Franks these helped end Roman.
A few centuries farming poor land made us become mercenaries and when numbers too large to sustain they raided better known as Vikings. One Viking mercenary hired by Germanic Gaul/Franks king was double crossed after completing their job and raided Paris France, who granted a Dukedom & lands to North for North men hence Norman’s and they learnt French to scold peasant populations. Thus King Rollo is Norman that descents sit on British Crown today when they invaded in 1066 AD in Norman conquest. Later some Norman’s went on boats to Malta & back Crimea Ukraine. Most European Monarchs decent from this Germanic tribes and note the Scythian Nomadic Horse Warrior prowess still practised today. Also Gypsies of Europe all know they have a North Indian origin from the times of wheeled carts/trolley and even if Indian flag. Also Linked to Chamar & Jattia Class in North India they travelled with Jats for work and traditional gypsies still have horse & cart even before they entered India too. Funny only 2 countries bear Aryan name origins still today, Iran and Eire (Ireland) both meaning Land of Aryans.
I discovered a non man ancestor that walked to South America then north to California and got thrown out the country for a fight in early 1900’s then he walked to UK, literally round the world. What boring life we lead. Knowing all this we rebuilt our village house and went back to UK and brought and run a Pedigree Livestock farm, now these English Registers will hold for life Maharajah Herd and animals like Aloo Maharajah for life 🤓🙈🤣
